Neil Thomas

Brass Team Leader

Neil has over 35 years’ experience in music education, performance and management.  He enjoyed a twenty-two year career in the Band of the Welsh Guards as a trumpet and piano specialist, where he performed at high profile Royal and State occasions in the UK and Worldwise.  During his time with the guards, he gained a degree in music and undertook several performance diplomas.

Neil has had the privilege to work for some excellent music services during his career, whose commitment to instrumental music provision has been of the highest priority.  He is extremely passionate with regard to instrumental music and teaches brass within a variety of settings, from 1:1 to small group and the Wider Opportunities programme.  He is also an experienced conductor of youth ensembles and currently directs jazz, brass and wind bands.

As Brass Team Leader, Neil is responsible for overseeing and developing all aspects of RMT brass tuition, its related ensembles and the Wider Opportunities programme. He considers it a great privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to the outstanding work within Richmond Music Trust.
