Foundation course for aspiring Junior Concert Band players
RMT Band Toolkit is a comprehensive 10 session course for beginner students, preparing them to join the Junior Concert Band (RJCB). The course is designed to build fundamental ensemble skills in order to ease the way into joining an ensemble.
Band Toolkit:
- Equips young players to join an ensemble by teaching them core skills such as playing in a section, simplifying their own part where needed as well as conductor signs and performance directions.
- Gives new potential members the chance of meeting both leadership of the band as well as
making friends ahead of joining the main ensemble. - Eases ‘first rehearsal anxiety’ by preparing pieces in a less formal setting.
Course Format - The course is delivered as a 10 session (1 term) course with a session length of 45mins
- Each student will receive a booklet with the activities for each session
- Most of the session will be practical playing, however it will be enriched by short theoretical units,
all coming together in playful activities to support teamwork and making friends.
Location/Session Times
We anticipate that the RMT Band Toolkit sessions will take place from September 25 on Wednesday evenings from 4.30-5.15pm at Waldegrave School in Twickenham.

The 10 Week Band Toolkit falls under the RMT Passport Level 1, which costs £52 per term (free for those on the remitted fee).
Students who have completed Wider Opportunities Transition 2 are eligible to receive their RMT Passport Level 1 free of charge for their first term, which means they can attend the Band Toolkit Course at no cost.
