The Jazz Day is an opportunity to explore this quote, as we discover and celebrate the World of Jazz.

Location: Performing Arts Block, Waldegrave School, Fifth Cross Road, Twickenham, TW2 5LH
Cost: £35 per participant / £30 for those who already hold an RMT Activities Passport*
*anyone who is in an RMT Ensemble
Throughout the day, we’ll cover some of the key elements of jazz including swing rhythms, call and response, improvising, soloing and performing. Aiming to inspire self-expression and nurture creativity/collaboration, students will explore jazz traditions, develop their listening skills and deepen their musical knowledge.
The Jazz Day is open to players of the following instruments:
Woodwind (all instruments excluding recorder)
Brass
Piano/Keyboard
Electric Guitar
Bass guitar
Drums (max. 3 places available)
Suitable for players in Year 5* – Year 13 who are Grade 2 to Grade 8+
*all RJCB members are welcome to attend, regardless of year group.
The Jazz Day will be led by Matt Cooper and supported by Will Everitt, who currently run the Richmond Youth Jazz Band. Both Matt and Will are graduates of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, (Matt: Jazz Trombone, Will: Trumpet/Jazz Composition).
