Debbie has been working as a music therapist for 20 years. Before that she completed a nursing training and a BA (Hons) in music as a mature student. This was followed by a diploma in music therapy at the Guildhall School of music and drama. She works for a music therapy provider in Hampshire ‘Key Changes’, with a variety of client groups. She has worked mainly in schools with children with additional needs, but has also run groups for people with acquired brain injury. For the past three years she has focused on working with older adults with dementia in care homes. As part of her work Debbie carried out an evaluation, providing evidence for the benefits of music therapy. Debbie sings in the chamber choir Southern Voices and has recently become chairwoman. She also plays the Celtic harp and says it is her own therapy to herself.
