In 2010, the Primary Singing Festival was extended to include a separate secondary event. Live@TheRose offered a unique and uplifting performance opportunity in a professional venue for secondary vocal students, school choirs and vocal groups. To make the occasion even more memorable, the students sang with a live professional band. The concert featured solo, group, choir and massed items.
The idea for Live@TheRose is to make the event a ‘gig’. Many secondary students attend gigs in their spare time and this was a chance to bridge the gap between viewer and participant. For a large number of the students this was a dream come true and the quality of the resulting performances reflected this.
The success of Live@TheRose 2010 and 2011 means that it is now an integral part of the Singing Festival: the 2012 event is now being planned.
