To make the time your child has with their teacher as productive as possible it’s very important to have an instrument to practise on at home in between lessons.

There are several shops which stock beginner instruments to buy or hire, and these will happily advise you on the best option for your child.  If you would like to have the instrument ready for their first lesson then it’s important that you take your child with you to the shop to confirm the correct size of instrument. 

Most teachers will advise on the correct size or the preferred make of instrument when they meet your child for the first time and so it’s fine to wait until after the first lesson before deciding on which instrument to go for.
