Referring
an individual child or adult
The first step is to arrange an initial music therapy assessment,
lasting three sessions. The purpose of the assessment will be to ascertain
whether music therapy is a suitable form of therapy for the child/adult
and one that he/she is willing to engage in. Following the assessment
a detailed report will be provided outlining the client's engagement
during the assessment. Where appropriate, recommendations for further
ongoing music therapy will be made. This may include outlining clinical
aims for future sessions and setting time spans for clinical reviews.
If you would like to refer someone for music therapy, you will need
to download a referral form (see below). Please send your completed
form to:

Who pays
for music therapy?
Funding is usually from schools, day centres, health authority or
social service budgets or by private individuals. In the case of
financial hardship, Richmond Music Trust may provide assistance
towards meeting the cost of fees through its fee remission scheme.
With evidence that a child is in receipt of free school meals or
that parents are in receipt of certain benefits as a result of their
financial situation, the Trust will remit 50% of the fee. In exceptional
cases of hardship the Trust will remit 100% of the fee subject to
available resources.
