PRACTICAL EXAMS
The application process
- Teachers hand out entry forms to the pupils they feel are ready to take an exam.
- Parents/guardians must sign and return completed forms with payment by the specified deadline to the RMT office.
- RMT submits the exam entry to ABRSM.
- RMT draws up the exam timetable and dates/times are sent directly to pupils.
SPRING TERM 2012
ENTRY DEADLINE: Completed forms must be at the RMT office by 5pm Wednesday 18.01.12
Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted. RMT cannot accept responsibility for entry forms sent via Royal Mail or delivered by hand that arrive after the specified deadline.
Exam Dates
Monday 26.03.12 - Friday 30.03.12
Please note that pupils need to be available for all dates specified. Once dates and times have been allocated it is very difficult to change them.
SUMMER TERM 2012
ENTRY DEADLINE: Completed forms must be at the RMT office by 5pm Friday 01.06.12
Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted. RMT cannot accept responsibility for entry forms sent via Royal Mail or delivered by hand that arrive after the specified deadline.

Monday 16.07.12 - 20.07.12

Accompanists
The majority of pupils will require an accompanist for their exam pieces, and there is a space on the entry form which the teacher will fill in with the RMT Pianist’s fee. If you would prefer to provide your own accompanist please just send back the exam fee.

Where to park
During exam periods there is no parking available on site. Please park in the surrounding roads, many of which are not subject to permit parking and offer pay and display bays.
When to arrive
Please arrive 20 minutes before your exam time and come up to the first floor.
Results
Practical results are usually issued between four and six weeks after the exam date. Exams are marked out of 150 and are broken down as follows:
Pass - 100
Merit - 120
Distinction - 130
Mark sheets and certificates are sent to the Music Trust and these are posted directly to pupils.

The ABRSM Music Medals scheme is available in the following schools:

Sheen Mount
Music Medals introduces essential musical skills and helps to inspire younger learners to play and enjoy music together. The style of assessment is particularly suited to group lessons. Music Medals assessments take place at school and are conducted by the teacher as soon as they feel pupils are ready.
Application forms are given out to pupils and need to be signed and returned to the RMT office with payment. The entry is then made and exam is organised by the teacher during lesson time.
